With Friends Like These…

Politically correct christianity.

If you’ve ever wondered why Christendom is teetering on the edge of oblivion, ask no more.  Your question has been answered.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — A billboard at a New Zealand church depicting a downcast Joseph lying beside Mary in bed and the heading “God is a hard act to follow” provoked more than the intended reconsideration of the meaning of Christmas.

Church vicar Archdeacon Glynn Cardy said the billboard was intended to challenge stereotypes about the way Jesus was conceived and get people talking about the Christmas story.

“This billboard is trying to lampoon and ridicule the very literal idea that God is a male and somehow this male God impregnated Mary,” said Cardy, who described his church as having very liberal ideas about Christianity.

“We would question the Virgin Birth in any literal sense. We would question the maleness of God in any literal sense,” he said.

“We would see a billboard like that being used by an anti-Christian group to actually poke fun at the divinity of Christ,” Freer told National Radio.

More insanity here:

The miracle birth reduced to a roll in the hay.  By a priest, no less.  An atheist could not have levelled a more sacrilegious attack on the foundation of our Faith.  Gramsci would be proud.

And for what purpose?  Is it this good priest’s view that God’s “maleness” is the problem with christianity, or with society at large right now?  Does he believe “sexism” is what ails us?  Clearly, here is a priest who wants to stay relevant by keeping up with “the times.”  God love him for it.  But did it not occur to him that children growing up fatherless is also a sign of “the times”, and that perhaps God’s “maleness” might have some possible value to this generation in a way that it has never before in history?  Apparently not, so shallow is this worldview by politically correct “isms.”  Down with the patriarchy and all that jazz, I’ll take skim with that latte.

And is a less literal reading of the Bible also another one of his solutions to whatever problem this priest believes ails the church and/or society?  In other words the church needs even less literalism than what little it has left?  Really?  As if God’s Word hasn’t already been deconstructed to the point of irrelevancy by the forces of militant secularism.  Now we need priests doing it too?  All in a days work for neo-marxism’s long march through our culture and institutions.

  1. Had a black guy tell me people who attend tea parties are all racists. Says they didn’t have tea parties until Obama was president.
Told him that’s because tea parties are a protest against Obama’s policies. Answer.
    You be a hater.
Can’t win with idiots that use racism as an excuse for everything they don’t agree with.

  2. Ha, ha. It’s no longer the angry black woman. Now it’s the angry white male. OK. It’s about time.
