Time Magazine’s Joe Klein Implies Opposition to Obama is Sedition

Remember the good old days when dissent was patriotic?  Seems like a lifetime ago.  Today, Time magazine’s Joe Klein, says opposition to the Obama Administration is racist and using the term “Obama regime” is next to SEDITION against the state.  Chris Matthews and guest John Heilemann don’t break out into a fit of gut-busting derisive laughter, but instead nod like so many bobble heads in complete agreement.  Media-manufactured outrage on full display here.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Says Joe Klein, with a very concerned Chris Matthews nodding approvingly:

“I did a little bit of research just before this show – it’s on this little napkin here. I looked up the definition of sedition which is conduct or language inciting rebellion against the authority of the state. And a lot of these statements, especially the ones coming from people like Glenn Beck and to a certain extent Sarah Palin, rub right up close to being seditious.”

Then John Heilemann piles on:

“And Joe’s right and I’ll name another person, I’ll name Rush Limbaugh who uses this phrase constantly and talks about the Obama administration as a regime,” Heilemann said. “That phrase which has connotations of tyranny. And what’s so interesting about it to me, to get to Norah’s point – what is the focus, what is the cause of this? You think back to 1994, there was Ruby Ridge. There was Waco. There were triggering incidents. There’s been nothing like that. The only thing that’s changed in the last 15 months is the election of Barack Obama.

[…]

There’s no question that today’s political climate is toxic, but you can make a pretty good case that it’s a piker compared to what George W. Bush had to endure.  Go to Bing and do a word search for “Bush regime” = 21,300,000 results.  Then do the same with “Obama regime” = 284,000.  Now do the math.  Based on this, President Obama would literally have to serve as president for 100 years before the current derangement levels approached that of the Bush years.  Below is Chris Matthews himself, and other seditious bastards, using the “R” word against President Bush back in the day when dissent was “patriotic” and sedition was “speaking truth to power.”

John Heilemann too, it turns out, has used the “R” word regarding President Obama at least four times:

In the January 19, 2009 issue of New York, Heilemann wrote that Barack Obama had no particular expertise in economics, “So it’s ironic, to say the least, that the first defining moment of the Obama regime happens to revolve around matters macroeconomic — dealing not just with a nasty and potentially prolonged downturn, but with a wrenching, epochal crisis of capitalism on a global scale.”

[…]

I don’t expect much better from the likes of Chris Matthews & Co.  They’re commentators, which means it’s their job to lie for a living.  That’s hardly news.  But this touches on CCHQ’s mission statement, which is to debunk the Leftist meme of the “violent Right.”  There is no extremism on the Right today that we haven’t seen in far greater amounts from the Left during the Bush years.
