MLK’s Niece at Beck’s Rally

Conservatism sweeps the Nation’s capital as Alveda King speaks at Beck’s rally about race, abortion, faith in the public square, the culture war.  Liberals predictably won’t touch her with a ten foot pole and instead attack the far safer targets Beck and Palin.

“MLK would encourage us to lay aside the divisive lies that cause us to think we are members of separate races.”

“Alleluyah.  We still trust in God.”

Contempt for the Familiar: Why the liberal elite finds Americans revolting

This explains everything.  OIKO-PHOBIA:  contempt for the familiar.  From the Greek ‘oikos’, meaning family or household.  The opposite of Xenophobia, fear of the unfamiliar.  Why the Left’s invocation of “the other” has become such simple-minded cliche:

[Charles] Krauthammer writes that “the Democrats are going to get beaten badly in November,” and no one will credit him for boldness in that prediction. Some may disagree with his reckoning as to the reason for that likely loss: that “a comeuppance is due the arrogant elites whose undisguised contempt for the great unwashed prevents them from conceding a modicum of serious thought to those who dare oppose them.”

What is the nature of this contempt? In part it is the snobbery of the cognitive elite, exemplified by a recent New York Times Web column by Timothy Egan called “Building a Nation of Know-Nothings”–or by the viciousness directed at Sarah Palin, whose folksy demeanor and state-college background seem terribly déclassé not just to liberals but to a good number of conservatives in places like New York City.

In more cerebral moments, the elitists of the left invoke a kind of Marxism Lite to explain away opinions and values that run counter to their own. Thus Barack Obama’s notorious remark to the effect that economic deprivation embitters the proles, so that they cling to guns and religion. (Ironically, Obama recently said through a spokesman that he is Christian.)  Here’s Robert Reich, Bill Clinton’s labor secretary, explaining “The Anatomy of Intolerance” to readers of

Many Americans (and politicians who [sic] the polls) don’t want a mosque at Manhattan’s Ground Zero. . . .

Where is all this coming from?

It’s called fear. When people are deeply anxious about holding on to their homes, their jobs, and their savings, they look for someone to blame. And all too often they find it in “the other”–in people who look or act differently, who come from foreign lands, who have what seem to be strange religions, who cross our borders illegally. . . .

Economic fear is the handmaiden of intolerance. It’s used by demagogues who redirect the fear and anger toward people and groups who aren’t really to blame but are easy scapegoats.

So if some Americans are afraid of people “who have what seem to be strange religions,” it must be a totally irrational reaction to “economic insecurity.” It couldn’t possibly have anything to do with an act of mass murder committed in the name of the religion in question.

And Reich doesn’t just fail to see the obvious. He dehumanizes his fellow Americans by treating their values, feelings and opinions as no more than reflexive reactions to material conditions. Americans in fact are a very tolerant people. Even in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, there was no serious backlash against Muslims. What makes them angry–what makes us angry–is the bigotry of the elites.

The Ground Zero mosque is an affront to the sensibilities of ordinary Americans. “The center’s association with 9/11 is intentional and its location is no geographic coincidence,” as the Associated Press has reported. That Americans would find this offensive is a matter of simple common sense. The liberal elites cannot comprehend common sense, and, incredibly, they think that’s a virtue. After all, common sense is so common.

The British philosopher Roger Scruton has coined a term to describe this attitude:  ” What a perfect description of the pro-mosque left.  oikophobia. Xenophobia is fear of the alien; oikophobia is fear of the familiar: “the disposition, in any conflict, to side with ‘them’ against ‘us’, and the felt need to denigrate the customs, culture and institutions that are identifiably ‘ours.’

Scruton was writing in 2004, and his focus was on Britain and Europe, not America. But his warning about the danger of oikophobes–whom he amusingly dubs “oiks”–is very pertinent on this side of the Atlantic today, and it illuminates how what are sometimes dismissed as mere matters of “culture” tie in with economic and social policy:

The oik repudiates national loyalties and defines his goals and ideals against the nation, promoting transnational institutions over national governments, accepting and endorsing laws that are imposed on us from on high by the EU or the UN, though without troubling to consider Terence’s question, and defining his political vision in terms of universal values that have been purified of all reference to the particular attachments of a real historical community.

The oik is, in his own eyes, a defender of enlightened universalism against local chauvinism. And it is the rise of the oik that has led to the growing crisis of legitimacy in the nation states of Europe. For we are seeing a massive expansion of the legislative burden on the people of Europe, and a relentless assault on the only loyalties that would enable them voluntarily to bear it. The explosive effect of this has already been felt in Holland and France. It will be felt soon everywhere, and the result may not be what the oiks expect.

There is one important difference between the American oik and his European counterpart. American patriotism is not a blood-and-soil nationalism but an allegiance to a country based in an idea of enlightened universalism. Thus our oiks masquerade as–and may even believe themselves to be–superpatriots, more loyal to American principles than the vast majority of Americans, whom they denounce as “un-American” for feeling an attachment to their actual country as opposed to a collection of abstractions.

Yet the oiks’ vision of themselves as an intellectual aristocracy violates the first American principle ever articulated: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal . . .”

This cannot be reconciled with the elitist notion that most men are economically insecure bitter clinging intolerant bigots who need to be governed by an educated elite. Marxism Lite is not only false; it is, according to the American creed, self-evidently false. That is why the liberal elite finds Americans revolting.

The ACLU is PRO-Al Qaida

Here Bill O’reilly interviews a Gitmo lawyer about the ACLU’s lawsuit against the Obama administration for their drone war against Al-Qaida.  This is what anti-Americanism looks like.  Of course, cloaked in the kind of arrogant and self-deceptive moral posturing that allows the do-gooders to believe they are better people than the rest of us.  It’s a self-image I recognize well from growing up on the Left.

Cultural Enrichment: 50% of Rapes in Sweden committed by Foreigners (and we all know what they mean by “foreigners”)

European men have been castrated by Leftism, and their women are paying the price.

Sweden Democrats publish report on rape

The Sweden Democrats presented a report on Wednesday showing that of 114 convictions for rape in 2009, 48 percent involved men born outside Sweden.

“This sample is less than half of the court rulings last year,” said Klara Hradilova Selin at The National Council for Crime Prevention (Brå) which compiles official statistics on crimes committed and reported in Sweden.  The Sweden Democrats have gone through 114 district court rulings from 2009 in cases of rape or aggravated rape. 48 percent (or 55 cases) of the convicted rapists were born outside of Sweden, with 39.5 percent of the total born outside of Europe.

The 55 convictions constitute an over representation of overseas-born as a group. There were 648,426 overseas-born males registered as resident in Sweden in 2009 of a population of 9.34 million.  According to Brå statistics men account for 98 percent of all rapes in Sweden.

According to the Sweden Democrats the over-representation is due to cultural differences, and that the view on rape and on women varies significantly between cultures. But Brå dispute that any conclusions can be drawn from the statistics.  “There were 253 court judgements last year, there were 6,000 rapes reported to the police and the Sweden Democrats have chosen 114 cases,” said Klara Hradilova Selin to The Local.

Selin also rejected the Sweden Democrats claim that there is something of a “wave of rapes” sweeping Sweden, with the country enduring the highest incidence of rape in Europe.  The comparison can not be done, according to Selin, the definition of rape differs too greatly among countries. Since a 2005 law change Sweden has one of the broadest definitions of rape in an international perspective.

Sweden Democrats’ party leader Jimmie Åkesson has meanwhile rejected the argument that it is irresponsible for a politician to draw conclusions from such a small sample.  “I think that it is a reasonable limitation. It confirms the same pattern in other reports which, for example Brå has done, and confirms also patterns seen in some foreign countries,” Åkesson told news agency TT.

But Klara Hradilova Selin argues that it is impossible to draw any general conclusions over rape from Brå statistics.  “There simply aren’t any statistics which indicate the actual incidence of rape – it is the crime with the highest degree of hidden statistics and most cases are not even reported,” she told The Local.

The Sweden Democrats have identified the incidence of rape as the “key equality issue of the election campaign” and argue that tighter controls on immigration would help to address the issue as well as placing a ten year trial period for new citizens. They further propose to raise the penalties for rape and spend 1 billion kronor ($134 million) annually on measures to rebuild risk areas, adding cameras and improving lighting.

And Again: Carnahan Firebomber Was a Leftist

Leftist blogger and firebomber pictured on the right.

Violent Leftists seemingly fall out of the wood work these days.  This one may come somewhat out of the blue for some of you because I haven’t covered it, but Dem Congressman Russ Carnahan’s office was firebombed a few weeks ago, and they immediately blamed the Tea Party for it.  Via Gateway Pundit:

Far Left website TPM Muckraker took the offical walk of shame today and admitted that one of their unhinged bloggers was arrested for firebombing Congressman Russ Carnahan’s office. The suspected firebomber blogs at TPM under the name “Ripper McCord.” When Leftie Bloggers Attack…

TPM reported:

Rep. Russ Carnahan (D-MO) confirmed in a press conference yesterday that the suspect in an alleged arson at Carnahan’s campaign office is a former paid campaign worker named Chris Powers.  Powers has not been charged in the arson case. In a phone interview this morning with TPMmuckraker, Powers denied having any involvement with what local reports have described as a “fire bombing.”

“I’m innocent,” Powers said. “I was at home when Congressman Carnahan’s office was fired on. I have nothing to do with it.”

In the early morning hours of Aug. 17, someone broke a back window in Carnahan’s St. Louis campaign office and set a small fire, which caused minor damage in the office. Police arrested a suspect some hours later. They released him the next day, but have not divulged the suspect’s name. Police say it is up to the prosecutor’s office whether to issue a warrant; without it they can’t hold a suspect or release his name.

Powers’ identity was first reported yesterday by the St. Louis blog Gateway Pundit. After the claim gathered steam online, Carnahan held a press conference and confirmed that Powers is a former campaign worker. Carnahan said Powers was paid as a canvassing worker for about a week, but was fired for “not doing his job.”

When TPM asked Powers if he was the person initially arrested by police, Powers referred us to his lawyer, who was not immediately available for comment.  As several blogs have reported, Powers wrote a reader blog at TPMCafe under the name Ripper McCord. (Any TPM reader can create a blog and comment on the site, and Powers is not affiliated with TPM.)

Of course, the fact that a leftie blogger is also a suspected firebomber surprises no one.  Don’t expect the state-run media to touch this with a ten-foot pole.

Liberal Says Christians Shouldn’t Condemn Jihad Because of Crusades

Beautiful idiot: Chris Cuomo

Is it a case of removing the plank from your own eye before removing the speck from your brothers – or political correctness run amok?  In a tweet Aug. 26, ABC “20/20” anchor Chris Cuomo told his 987,000 followers not to condemn Muslim violence because other religions have perpetrated violence in the past.

“To all my christian brothers and sisters, especially catholics – before u condemn muslims for violence, remember the crusades….study them,” Cuomo tweeted around 9:30 am.

So does past violence justify modern violence? If so, maybe Cuomo should take his own advice and study the Crusades. Even a brief study would reveal a much more complicated situation than Cuomo’s tweet suggests about who struck first.

Historians, including professor and author Bernard Lewis, have noted that the Crusades were in fact a response to jihad. “The Crusades could more accurately be described as a limited, belated and, in the last analysis, ineffectual response to the jihad – a failed attempt to recover by a Christian holy war what had been lost to a Muslim holy war,” Lewis wrote in the Wall Street Journal shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

One of Cuomo’s Twitter followers, magoluv69, pointed out that “by the time the Crusades began Muslim armies had conquered almost 2/3 of Christian world. Neither just.” Cuomo responded that he is “not sure how pointing out Muslim wrongs erases Christian wrongs.”  So pointing out Muslim wrongs doesn’t erase Christian wrongs – but pointing out Christian wrongs justifies Muslim wrongs?

Author Andrew Bostom noted that the comparison of jihad to the Crusades is not be apples-to-apples anyway. “The jihad is intrinsic to the sacred Muslim texts, including the divine Qur’anic revelation itself, whereas the Crusades were circumscribed historical events subjected to (ongoing and meaningful) criticism by Christians themselves.”

The entire article is packed with logic and moral reasoning.  Please don’t neglect it.

So has Chris Cuomo even read any books on the Crusades?  It would appear not.  And yet he advises you to study them.  Moral confusion abounds on the Left.  According to their PC morality, we can’t condemn what is happening now, but rather we should condemn what happened 1000 years ago.  But what would be the value of condemning something that happened 1000 years ago if those judgments can’t also be applied to what’s happening today?  If Cuomo had lived during the Crusades, would he have refrained from condemning the Crusades because of what had happened 1000 years earlier?  Not by his reasoning.

Does this also mean Anti-semitism can’t be condemned because the Jews themselves conquered the land of Canaan and genocided the indigenous population down to the man?  Or perhaps African-Americans can’t make a judgment about slavery because their own ancestors were themselves slavers and slave owners?  By this logic, we can’t ever condemn evil at all.

The Left doesn’t make moral judgments about evil, they make moral judgments about those who make moral judgments about evil!  If only I were making a feeble attempt to be clever or glib.  But I’m not.  During the Cold War, the Left was not necessarily pro-Communist.  Rather, they were anti those who were anti-communist. When they roundly condemned Ronald Reagan for calling the USSR an “evil empire,” they weren’t coming to the defense of the Soviet Union, they were making a moral judgment about Reagan because he had made a moral judgment about evil.  Welcome to intellectual and moral chaos that is secular progressive morality by PC.

Leftists Blame Muslim cab driver Stabbing on Democrats

A progressive non-profit group supporting the Islamic cultural center in downtown Manhattan released a video on Thursday chastising prominent Democrats for enabling the anti-Muslim sentiment that led to the stabbing of a cab driver this week.

The New York-based Agenda Project took aim at some unusual suspects in its latest push to coalesce public opinion around the building of the Cordoba House. In the latest in a series of videos, the group named former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean, New York Gov. David Patterson, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid along with Newt Gingrich, John McCain, and Sarah Palin as culprits to blame for an environment of prejudice against Muslim Americans.

A rare case of Leftists acting on principle and intellectual honesty?  Sadly, no.  First of all, these progressives are considerably to the Left of the Democratic party establishment, and their self-designated role is to pull the Dems further to the left.  In this case, they have merely calculated that it’s a far better use of their limited time and resources trying to stem further Democratic party defections than wasting their limited resources attacking the American people.  But ultimately we know that whenever the Left plays the race card, against whomever it may be, it’s all about control– not principle.

Ground Zero Mosque Developer Won’t reveal Funding

Ground Zero mosque developer, Sharif El-Gamal, rose from rags to riches seemingly out of nowhere to lay down $5 million CASH for the Park 51 building.  Nobody knows where the money came from, and nobody seems to care.  Meanwhile, Nancy Pelosi is looking out for you by launching her own little investigation into who’s funding opposition to the mosque!

“I don’t think he has a lot of money.  I’m sure he didn’t buy it with his own money.”

Area Man stabs Muslim Cab Driver

Violent Lefty, Michael Enright

Kook stabs Muslim cab driver and the professional Left (as usual) tries to pin it on the Teabaggers.  If only life were that neatly packaged, Lefties!  Nothing in the assailant’s background suggests any connection to the Tea Party, or even the Right.  The man is a kook regardless, but if just based on his background, it appears a Leftwing kook.

The apparent anti-Muslim assault on a New York city cabbie by a man shouting “Assalamu Alaikum. Consider this a checkpoint” produced an immediate round of recriminations over its connection to opposition to a New York Islamic Center and an apparent rising tide of Islamophobia.

But as often at the intersection of politics and violent crime, the story doesn’t appear to fit any easy stereotype: The alleged assailant, Michael Enright, is — according to his Facebook profile and the website of the left-leaning media organization Intersections International — a student at the School of Visual Arts and a volunteer for Intersections, which recently produced a statement of support for the [Cordoba] project and is funded by the mainstream, liberal Collegiate Church of New York.

Folks at the Lefty group, Intersections International, have rightly condemned the act by one of its kook members.

Enright volunteered for Intersections International, a group that promotes interfaith dialogue and has supported a controversial proposed mosque near ground zero.  A group representative, the Rev. Robert Chase, called the situation “tragic.” “We’ve been working very hard to build bridges between folks from different religions and cultures,” Chase said. “This is really shocking and sad for us.”

But given his Lefty background, I don’t expect this story should have much in terms of legs if they can’t pin it on the Teabaggers for the November elections (everything you read in the MSM from now until then is geared to preventing the Dems losing Congress).

CCHQ wishes the victim a speedy recovery.

Muslim Cleric: Plan to build GZ Mosque a Jew Plot

This one’s a lulzer.  Even Muslims overseas can’t believe our democratic system can be so easily gamed.  So it must be a Jew conspiracy!  A high-level cleric at Al-Azhar University in Cairo says the plan to build the Ground Zero mosque is a “Zionist plot” to make Muslims look bad.  He can’t believe Muslims could possibly be this stupid or insensitive on their own, so it must be all the fault of the Jew.  Proof, as far as I’m concerned, that opposing the Ground Zero mosque doesn’t serve as recruitment for Al-Qaida.

The Ground Zero mosque, which is stirring such a sandstorm in New York City, isn’t so popular in certain precincts of the Middle East, either. Some Muslims there think President Obama and Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York are nuts. Impotent and irresolute, too. Some of the true believers in Arabia say the mosque is a conspiracy hatched by the Jews to set out a clear and permanent connection between Sept. 11 and Islam, a constant reminder of an attack on America led by devout Muslims. Dr. Abd al-Muti Bayumi, a prominent fellow of the Islamic Research Academy of Al Azhar, sometimes regarded as “the Vatican of Sunni Islam,” says the construction of a mosque anywhere near Ground Zero is the child of a “devious mentality” to connect the dots of Sept. 11 and Islam, to stoke memories of barbarism in the name of Islam.

Another Arab notability, Dr. Amna Nazir, a professor of doctrine and philosophy at Al Azhar, calls “building a mosque on this rubble indicates bad intention — even if we wished to shut our eyes, close our minds and insist on good will.” These are not the empty sentiments of good will and sensitivity so beloved of the girly men of the West. They’re statements of concern that “Zionist conspiracy” aid in construction of the Ground Zero mosque will ultimately damage Islam. Dr. Bayumi, for one, preaches suicidal jihad to demonstrate that his heart is in the wrong place: “I say in all honesty that we recruit the people of Islam, and instill in them the spirit of the true jihad, which is death for the sake of Allah, for the sake of our faith.”

Sounds like a lot. Raymond Ibrahim, associate director of the Middle East Forum, author of “The Al Qaeda Reader” and guest lecturer at the National Defense Intelligence College, thinks it’s a result of culture and geography: “I believe it has to do with the differing mentalities of Western, or ‘indigenous,’ Muslims. The [indigenous Muslims], who have had little experience of the West, simply cannot believe that Muslims [in America] would be so foolhardy as to pursue such an obvious affront to their host nation.” An indigenous Muslim can’t believe that even an infidel nation would tolerate the insult. He knows what a similar insult, such as the construction of a Christian chapel in Saudi Arabia, would invite in an Islamic country. Not knowing very much about the world, the indigenous Muslim expects a similar result from the infidels.

Newsflash, Mr. Bayumi, Muslims are this stupid and insensitive on their own.  And then some.

Lt. Col. Ralph Peters on GZ Mosque

We are the most tolerant country on earth.  It’s time for Islam to reciprocate some of that tolerance.

“These people are playing the Liberal Establishment elite for all it’s worth.”

Liberal Fascism: Coaches Gets fired for violating Lib PC

Via Ace of Spades:

Twenty-six-year-old Bryan Glover is a Christian who co-wrote a song called “When You’re Holding a Hammer, Everything Looks Like a Nail,” which takes a dig at the current administration and what he believes to be the wrong moves for the U.S. He sent a link to his song to everyone in his personal e-mail inbox, which included parents from Grassland Middle School, where he coached football.”An hour-and-a-half after sending out the e-mail, I got the phone call from the head coach saying that he had had complaints from parents; he was told to fire me,” the former coach accounts.

He notes that he was surprised by the allegations against him.  “When the coach first called me, he said his phone was blown up with parents saying that I was being politically incorrect — quote, unquote — if you will, and that some of them were even reading into racial overtones in the song,” Glover explains.

But he points out that the lyrics make no direct or indirect reference to race.  A number of supportive parents met with the principal and asked for reinstatement, but the school district is remaining firm.

The coach’s politically incorrect song is posted at Ace of Spades, where Ace remarks:

This is how it is going to have to be: First of all, all of the school board members here have to be run against, and run hard against, and ejected from office. And then the principal needs to be fired, and every administrator along the way.

Second: Conservatives must begin, immediately, to get liberals fired from their jobs for any political expression. Any. Political. Expression.

We have tried to reason to them that this fascism is unfair. They don’t care, they don’t get it. All they see is the upside of fascism, the “good” side, the happy side, the I-get-to-coerce-my-opponents-and-hold-them-in-terror side.

They must be made to be afraid. And when a certain number of them have experienced the bad side of fascism, perhaps then they will be amenable to reason.  But they won’t be until then. It’s time to start using their despicable tactics against them. Not out of vengeance — but as a teachable moment.

GZ Mosque groundbreaking to coincide with 9/11

Cordoba: the 9/11 mosque

It doesn’t get any more obvious than this, folks.  First the code name “Cordoba”, and now the date they chose to break ground for it.  Hmmm.

A chorus of critics — from neighbors to those who lost loved ones on 9/11 to me — feel as if they’ve received a swift kick in the teeth.

Plans are under way for a Muslim house of worship, topped by a 13-story cultural center with a swimming pool, in a building damaged by the fuselage of a jet flown by extremists into the World Trade Center.

The opening date shall live in infamy: Sept. 11, 2011. The 10th anniversary of the day a hole was punched in the city’s heart.

Christian NGO Allowed to hire/fire based on faith

A court rules that Christian uber charity, World Vision, may hire and fire based on religious creed, and Leftists erupt in a frenzy of outrage.  If you needed any further proof that the Left’s defense of the Ground Zero mosque has nothing to do with “religious freedom,” but with their anti judeo-christian, multiculti agenda, here it is.  The constitutional right to religious freedom and freedom of association only applies to Muslims, not Christians, and (unlike the Right) they will use the courts to enforce it.

(RNS) World Vision, the Christian humanitarian organization, can fire employees who disagree with its theological tenets, a federal appeals court ruled on Monday (Aug. 23).  In a 2-1 decision, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said that World Vision is a “religious corporation” and therefore exempt from a federal law that bars faith-based discrimination.

“I am satisfied that World Vision has met its burden of showing that the ‘general picture’ of the organization is ‘primarily religious,”‘ wrote Judge Diarmuid O’Scannlain. “World Vision is a nonprofit organization whose humanitarian relief efforts flow from a profound sense of religious mission.”‘

Three employees, two of whom had worked at World Vision for 10 years, were fired in 2006 because they did not believe in the divinity of Jesus or the doctrine of the Trinity, O’Scannlain wrote. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 bars religious discrimination, but carves out an exemption for companies engaged in a religious purpose, the court ruled.

Judge Marsha S. Berzon dissented from the majority opinion, saying Congress did not intend to allow all religiously motivated nonprofits to be exempt from the law.

“That interpretation would severely tip the balance away from the pluralistic vision Congress incorporated … toward a society in which employers could self-declare as religious enclaves from which dissenters can be excluded despite their ability to do the assigned secular work as well as religiously acceptable employees,” Berzon wrote.

For Leftists gone wild, check the source article comments section!  It’s a real hoot.

Sharia Comes To Disney

ANAHEIM — A Muslim woman who is fighting for the right to wear her hijab to work says Disney’s replacement headress is “offensive.” Imane Boudlal, 26, who is a hostess at the Storyteller’s Restaurant in Disneyland’s Grand Californian Hotel, says she is not allowed to wear the head scarf while at work and has been sent home seven times times — without pay.

Disneyland spokeswoman Suzi Brown said Disney has a policy not to discriminate and is trying to work out a compromise.  Disney has offered Boudlal a hat to wear on top of a bonnet in place of her own white headscarf but Boudlal says the new uniform does not meet her religious needs and says the hat is embarrassing, especially because she would be the only employee forced to wear it.

What’s next, the Rockets in a burka?

There is no Islam in the Magic Kingdom, just as there is no other religion there.   That’s what makes it “magic”.  It’s supposed to be UNREAL.  And yet, as is the custom of Islam in the West, they demand special privileges from their would-be dhimmis not granted to others.  Ever bolder by the day, the Ropers are making their intentions perfectly clear– they aren’t here to adapt, they’re here to culturally colonize.

Pat Condell on Ground Zero Mosque

If you thought what is happening in Europe could never happen here in America, then it’s time to wake up, says Pat Condell.  Note his commentary on the name “Cordoba”, and on stealth jihad. Lot’s of good stuff here. This is a CCHQ must see.

“How typical of Islam, with its own hair-trigger sensitivity to the slightest imagined insult to do something so arrogant and so insensitive.”

“Islam despises America and what it stands for, including freedom and DIVERSITY.’

GZ Mosque Imam: U.S. Worse than Al-Qaida

The Reconciler: Imam Rauf

The U.S. has more blood on its hands than Al-Qaida, says the Ground Zero Mosque iman.  Let the reconciliation begin.

New audio has surfaced of the imam behind the controversial mosque near Ground Zero allegedly telling an audience overseas that the United States has been far more deadly than al-Qaeda. “We tend to forget, in the West, that the United States has more Muslim blood on its hands than al-Qaeda has on its hands of innocent non Muslims,” Feisal Abdul Rauf said at a 2005 lecture sponsored by the University of South Australia. After discussing the U.S.-led sanctions against Iraq under Saddam Hussein, Rauf went on to argue that America is to blame for its testy relationship with Islamic countries.

“What complicates the discussion, intra-Islamically, is the fact that the West has not been cognizant and has not addressed the issues of its own contribution to much injustice in the Arab and Muslim world.” The audio was uncovered by blogger Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs.

Audio here.

Boy, these “moderate Muslims” just bleed red, white, and blue don’t they?  This is the kind of relativist garbage the internationalist, citizen-of-the-world Left laps up and then wonder why you question their patriotism.

Hardhats vow not to work on Ground Zero mosque

Immune to PC

There won’t be a Ground Zero mosque.  As I have stated before, if the West as we know it has any chance of surviving it’ll be thanks to the working classes.  They will be its salvation.  They generally don’t go to college and have therefore largely escaped exposure to the worst effects of the Secular Progressive contagion.

A growing number of New York construction workers are vowing not to work on the mosque planned near Ground Zero.  “It’s a very touchy thing because they want to do this on sacred ground,” said Dave Kaiser, 38, a blaster who is working to rebuild the World Trade Center site.

“I wouldn’t work there, especially after I found out about what the imam said about U.S. policy being responsible for 9/11,” Kaiser said.  The grass-roots movement is gaining momentum on the Internet. One construction worker created the “Hard Hat Pledge” on his blog and asked others to vow not to work on the project if it stays on Park Place.

“Thousands of people are signing up from all over the country,” said creator Andy Sullivan, a construction worker from Brooklyn. “People who sell glass, steel, lumber, insurance. They are all refusing to do work if they build there.”

“Hopefully, this will be a tool to get them to move it,” he said. “I got a problem with this ostentatious building looming over Ground Zero.”  A planned 13-story community center and mosque two blocks from Ground Zero, Park51 has exploded into a national debate.

Louis Coletti, president of the Building Trades Employers’ Association, said unions have not yet taken a “formal position” on Park51, but he understands why members would be hesitant to work there.  “It’s a very difficult dilemma for the contractors and the organized labor force because we are experiencing such high levels of unemployment,” he said. “Yet at the same time, this is a very sacred sight to the union guys.”

“There were construction workers killed on 9/11 and many more who got horribly sick cleaning up Ground Zero,” Coletti said. “It’s very emotional.”  L.V. Spina, a Manhattan construction worker who created anti-mosque stickers that some workers are slapping on their hardhats, said he would “rather pick cans and bottles out of trash cans” than build the Islamic center near Ground Zero.

“But if they moved it somewhere else, we would put up a prime building for these people,” he said. “Hell, you could do it next to my house in Rockaway Beach, I would be fine with it. But I’m not fine with it where blood has been spilled.” Spina, who sells 9/11 apparel on his website, said he’s printed thousands of stickers and plans to produce thousands more.

The New Tolerance: Highway Crosses are unconstitutional

Separation of Church and society

From one side of their mouth Libs invoke platitudes about “freedom of religion” when it comes to the Ground Zero mosque (even though nobody is denying Muslims the right to build it there), and from the other side they deny you those very same religious freedoms.  These are the people lecturing us about tolerance and reconciliation.

Washington (CNN)Memorial crosses erected along Utah public roads to honor fallen state highway troopers have been found unconstitutional by a federal appeals court.  A three-judge panel of the 10th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled Wednesday that the 14 large crosses would be viewed by most passing motorists as “government’s endorsement of Christianity.”

“We hold that these memorials have the impermissible effect of conveying to the reasonable observer the message that the state prefers or otherwise endorses a certain religion,” concluded the Denver, Colorado-based court. The state of Utah and a private trooper association have the option of appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court.

A Texas-based group, American Atheists, successfully sued five years ago to have the nonprofit memorial project scrapped, and the crosses removed from public property.  At issue was whether the crosses violated the Establishment Clause of the Constitution, by having the government endorsing the Christian symbols, even if indirectly.

The Utah Highway Patrol Association in 1998 began erecting the monuments, which contain the fallen trooper’s name, rank, and badge number. A picture of the officer and some biographical information is included on a separate plaque placed where the two bars of the cross meet. The state insignia is also included, which the judges in particular raised with constitutional concerns.

The service group said their main message was not religious in nature, but among other things, to serve as “a lasting reminder to UHPA members and Utah highway patrol troopers that a fellow trooper gave his life in service to this state” and to “encourage safe conduct on the highways.”

While placed on public land and with the state’s permission, the crosses themselves are privately owned and maintained. The state expressly noted it “neither approves or disapproves of the memorial marker.”
