Cultural Marxism in the classrooms

The cultural marxists are on the move.  Let’s take a little peak inside their virulently anti-Christian sec prog minds, shall we?

Teacher penalizes students for saying “bless you”

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A Northern California teacher says he doesn’t want to hear a common courtesy in his classroom. He’s even lowering students’ grades if they say “bless you” after someone sneezes. Steve Cuckovich says the practice is disrespectful and disruptive. He’s banned saying “bless you” in his high school health class in Vacaville. He even knocked 25 points from one student’s grade for saying the phrase in class. Cuckovich says the policy has nothing to do with religion, but says the phrase is just a outdated practice and disrupts class time. “When you sneezed in the old days, they thought you were dispelling evil spirits out of your body,” Cuckovich said. “So they were saying, ‘God bless you’ for getting rid of evil spirits. But today, I said what you’re doing doesn’t really make any sense anymore.” After parents complained about students losing points for saying “bless you”, Cuckovich says he decided to stop the practice. However, the teacher says he will just find another way to discipline students for saying “bless you” in class.

Notice how the loon tries to explain his reasoning in order to justify himself in a “rational” way.  But none of it explains his own deeply visceral response about something so harmless and irrelevant.  That alone gives him away.

Some people say Liberalism is a mental disorder.  But it’s actually a religion, and all religions seem totally wack to outsiders looking in.  They hide their militantly secular religion behind a mantra of “separation of church and state”, but their deepest desire is to remove any mention, nay memory, of God from society altogether.  The examples are countless.

Incidents like these illustrate just how deeply the cultural marxists have infiltrated our institutions in their quest to gut our judeo-christian culture from the inside out.  Without going into any of the 1st amendment issues raised by this kind of PC run amuck, it further reveals just how interrelated the Gay Agenda (i.e., the normalization of homosexuality) is related to this war on Christianity and traditional values:

School Punishes Boy for Opposing Homosexuality

An honors student in Fort Worth, Texas, was sent to the principal’s office and punished for telling a classmate that he believes homosexuality is wrong.  Holly Pope said she was “absolutely stunned” when she received a telephone call from an assistant principal at Western Hills High School informing her that her son, Dakota Ary, had been sent to in-school suspension.  “Dakota is a very well-grounded 14-year-old,” she told Fox News Radio noting that her son is an honors student, plays on the football team and is active in his church youth group. “He’s been in church his whole life and he’s been taught to stand up for what he believes.”  And that’s what got him in trouble.

Dakota was in a German class at the high school when the conversation shifted to religion and homosexuality in Germany. At some point during the conversation, he turned to a friend and said that he was a Christian and “being a homosexual is wrong.”  “It wasn’t directed to anyone except my friend who was sitting behind me,” Dakota told Fox. “I guess [the teacher] heard me. He started yelling. He told me he was going to write me an infraction and send me to the office.”

Dakota was sentenced to one day in-school suspension – and two days of full suspension. His mother was flabbergasted, noting that her son had a spotless record, was an honor student, volunteered at his church and played on the school football team.  Officials at the high school did not return calls for comment. However, the Fort Worth Independent School District issued a statement that read:

Krause called the incident “mind blowing” and said the teacher had frequently brought homosexuality into ninth grade classroom discussions.  “There has been a history with this teacher in the class regarding homosexual topics,” Krause said. “The teacher had posted a picture of two men kissing on a wall that offended some of the students.”  Krause said the picture was posted on the teacher’s “world wall.”  “He told the students this is happening all over the world and you need to accept the fact that homosexuality is just part of our culture now,” Krause said.

Pink Witches, white paper, political correctness run amuck

Sanitized and sterilized for your viewing safety.

Modern Liberals are crazy.  Straight up.  Not bad people mind you, just sick puppies the whole lot of them.  When you read this article, keep in mind that as the further and faster racism recedes from our culture, the more DESPERATELY these Sec Progs try to find it.  They NEED racism to exist because as racism recedes, so does the modern Liberal’s relevance.  They lose a major raison d’etre with racism gone.   Not to mention it makes a fairly useful club against their hated enemies on the Right.  And where a Lib means to find racism, believe you me, he will find it!

Dress witches in pink and avoid white paper to prevent racism in nuseries, expert says

From the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz to Meg, the good witch from the Meg and Mog children’s books, witches have always dressed in black.  But their traditional attire has now come in for criticism from equality experts who claim it could send a negative message to toddlers in nursery and lead to racism.

Instead, teachers should censor the toy box and replace the pointy black hat with a pink one, while dressing fairies, generally resplendent in pale pastels, in darker shades.  Another staple of the classroom – white paper – has also been questioned by Anne O’Connor, an early years consultant who advises local authorities on equality and diversity.

Children should be provided with paper other than white to drawn on and paints and crayons should come in “the full range of flesh tones”, reflecting the diversity of the human race, according to the former teacher.  Finally, staff should be prepared to be economical with the truth when asked by pupils what their favourite colour is and, in the interests of good race relations, answer “black” or “brown”.

The measures, outlined in a series of guides in Nursery World magazine, are aimed at avoiding racial bias in toddlers as young as two.  According to the guides, very young children may begin to express negative and discriminatory views about skin colour and appearance that nursery staff must help them “unlearn”.

If children develop positive associations with dark colours, the greater the likelihood that the attitude will be generalised to people, it says.  The advice is based on an “anti-bias” approach to education which developed in the United States as part of multiculturalism.

Ah, there it is, that scourge of Western civilization– multiculturalism.  Not surprised to see its fingerprints on this one.  Next on the sec prog agenda, outlaw toy witches (might offend the pagans).  More secular progressive madness here.

Kingdom of the Three Genocides

The modern Turkish state was founded on the genocide of three Christian nations.  This particular Islamic state is virtually swimming in the blood of the Martyrs.  Politically incorrect history, courtesy of CCHQ.

If you’re a fan of Roman history, you’ve heard of Pontus.  The Pontic kingdom was the offspring of the ancient Greek wayfarers and explorers who colonized Asia Minor and the southern coast of the Black Sea beginning in 800 B.C.  When Pontus was eventually conquered by Rome in 63 B.C., it was folded into the Eastern Roman Empire, whose capital resided in Constantinople.  Almost 1,500 years later when this last hellenized bastion of Rome fell to the armies of Islam in 1453, the “Pontic Greeks” remained on the northern coast of what is today known as Turkey.  But the Turks could not long abide an older ethnic population in their midst, sharing their country but refusing to assimilate into Islam.  So they did to this stateless minority what they did to the Armenians– genocide.  The campaign against the Pontic Greeks included massacres, forced deportations and death marches.  Pontic villages and towns would be surrounded by Turks and their inhabitants massacred.  Over 500,000 Pontians were deported of whom comparatively few survived, with those who were able to escape and survive seeking refuge in neighboring Russia and Greece.  The death toll is estimated at between to 350,000 — 450,000 Greek Pontians killed in massacres and death marches.  They were the last remnants of a civilization dating back almost three millenia, now dispersed forever.

And the Armenian genocide from 1896 through 1923.  Victims: 1.5 million.  It was the deliberate and systematic destruction of the Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire, which took part almost concurrently and in the same historical context as the Assyrian Christian genocide of 1914 — 1920.  Stay tuned for more on this later.

The Assyrian Christians were a race of people indigenous to the area of northern Mesopotamia, the descendants of the ancient Assyrian empire which fell around 600 B.C., and among the first of nations to convert to Christianity.  They were known to send their missionaries to nations as far flung as China and Japan.  Their dogged adherence to Christianity has made them one of Islam’s number one targets for hundreds of years, with their persecution culminating in modern times with their genocide at the hands of the Ottoman Empire’s “Young Turks” in the early 20th century.  The Turks committed massacres against, and forced death marches upon, all those Assyrians who refused to convert to Islam.  For example, in 1915, 8,000 Ottoman Turkish soldiers surrounded almost 20,000 Assyrian civilians in at least 30 villages and massacred them all.  And that was just the beginning.  The Assyrian nation lost almost two thirds of it’s population at the hands of the Turk.  Total dead are estimated at 750,000.  But their story has been all but ignored by our historians, in my opinion because this constitutes politically incorrect history that can’t be pinned on the “Western imperialism” that so consumes our intellectuals of the Academy.  Here, however, you will finally hear from the victims and eyewitnesses of this genocide who managed to survive those purges, death marches, and pitched battles.  This is history of a people lost to our memory.  It is a forgotten genocide.

Philadelphia teachers Helped Students cheat for their own good

Standardized tests the bane of self esteem movement

This is just sad.  Teachers in Philly explain how they helped their students cheat in order to, get this, help them!

Philadelphia English teacher explains why she helped students cheat

The revelation that more than 80 Atlanta teachers admitted to cheating on state standardized tests–with one group of elementary teachers even holding a “party” after school to change their pupils’ answers by hand–has rocked the education reform movement.  But one question has been left unanswered: Why would a teacher resort to cheating in the first place?

The Notebook blog has found a Philadelphia teacher willing to explain why she helped her 11th-grade English students cheat on the state’s standardized tests. (The blog earlier broke the story that Pennsylvania officials suspected cheating may have occurred in 60 state schools.)  The teacher, who remains anonymous in the story, says she began to help her students cheat because she worried their self-esteem was crushed by taking tests they were in no way academically prepared for. If a student asked a question during one of the eight yearly testing periods, she would help him or her find the right answer, or occasionally just point to it on the exam.  “I never went to any student who didn’t call me to help them cheat,” said the teacher. “But if somebody asked me a question, I wasn’t willing to say, ‘Just do your best.’ They were my students, and I wanted to be there for them.”

The teacher said administrators bullied teachers about boosting test scores so that the school would make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), creating a constant state of performance anxiety in the classroom. Schools with low scores must improve by a certain amount each year to avoid federal sanctions set forth by the No Child Left Behind law. In some cases, the federal government shuts down schools that fail to boost scores year after year.  “The prevailing message was, ‘We have to make AYP this year, or they’re going to shut our school down and you’re all going to lose your jobs.’ At every professional development [session], that’s what we discussed,” the teacher said. She added that many teachers at her school engaged in cheating.

The Atlanta scandal and a USA Today report of potential teacher-sanctioned cheating in 1,600 classrooms across six states has put pressure on the Obama administration for its focus on standardized testing. Teachers in some districts are being paid bonuses for their students’ performance on state tests, and many others have their performance evaluation tied to those scores.  Secretary of Education Arne Duncan says that the emphasis on tests does not encourage cheating. In fact, he sees it as the only way to ensure schools are adequately teaching their students.

In study after study, American high school kids show far higher levels of “self esteem” than high school kids overseas, yet they score the lowest at every academic level.  Gee, I wonder why.  On what precisely is this false sense of “self-esteem” based?  Certainly not on accomplishment!  It seems we now know the answer– grades!  Inflated though they may be.  The American “self-esteem” movement has completely de-linked self-esteem from any kind of real achievement, and now even some social scientists are admitting that “self-esteem” has crossed into over-confidence.  Another PC idea that crashed and burned and wound up in the shit house.  And in a godless, secular society where a man’s worth cannot be measured by the transcendental or divine, what exactly is this so-called “self-esteem” supposed to be based on then?  If not on accomplishment, then what?   What’s left?  Why, nothing!  The sad truth about the self-esteem movement is that they have actually harmed the cause of our children, not benefited them.  Thanks to Liberals, secularism, and their “self esteem movement”, our youth now have little or no reason to have any real self esteem.  Plenty of narcissism though.

Here, George Carlin’s take on the BS that is the self-esteem movement:

Hollywood’s radical lefties Emerge from the closet

State funded Lefty propaganda

Sesame Street and Friends ‘pumping out left wing messages’

It isn’t paranoia when they really are out to get you.  It’s no longer a conspiracy theory when they admit to it.  Below, admitted and confessed cultural marxism in action from our friends in the entertainment industry:

The TV series Friends undermined family values; Sesame Street taught ethnic minorities about civil disobedience; Happy Days had a subtle anti-Vietnam subtext; and the 1980s cop show MacGyver tried to persuade pistol-packing Americans that guns are bad.  That is the considered opinion of Ben Shapiro, an investigative author and right-wing columnist who will publish a detailed expose tomorrow telling how Hollywood producers, writers and actors have been secretly using TV to promote what he calls a “radical” left-leaning political agenda.  Shapiro’s book, Primetime Propaganda revolves around comments by 70-odd industry heavyweights he approached for interviews.

The book promises to “profile the biggest names in showbusiness over the past 50 years” and includes a series of “gotcha” moments, in which the architects of the best-watched TV shows of modern times tell how they tried to use the medium of broadcasting to, as Shapiro puts it, “shape America in their own leftist image”.

“I was shocked by the openness of the Hollywood crowd when it came to admitting anti-conservative discrimination inside the industry,” Shapiro said. “They weren’t ashamed of it. In fact, some were actually proud of it.”  The book’s contents will only add weight to allegations – often aired by conservative Americans – that Hollywood is the exclusive domain of leftie propagandists.

Among Shapiro’s most revelatory interviewees is Marta Kauffman, the co-creator of Friends, who recalls how she hired a “bunch of liberals” to run the programme to “put out there what we believe”.  In 1999, she admitted casting the actress sister of Newt Gingrich, the prominent Republican, to play a preacher at a lesbian wedding because she wanted to annoy conservatives.  “When we did the lesbian wedding, we knew there was going to be some flak,” said Kauffman. “I have to say, when we cast Candice Gingrich as the minister of that wedding, there was a bit of a ‘f*** you’ in it to the right-wing, directly.”

Elsewhere in the book, Vin DiBona, the producer of MacGyver, agrees that Hollywood has a liberal bias, saying “I’m happy about it, actually.” The cult cop show advanced an anti-gun agenda, he added. “That was the whole premise of the programme, that MacGyver used his brain power and skill and science, and solved all the difficulties through ingenuity. No guns, no knives.”

Not just a comedy about military camaraderie, M*A*S*H also had a pacifist agenda, the show’s co-creator and director Gene Reynolds told Shapiro, who said: “We wanted to point out the wastefulness of war.”  And, with regard to Happy Days, writer Bill Bickley said he “had a whole subtext” attacking the Vietnam War. “If you really look for it, you can find it.”

The book is perhaps at its most condemnatory when accusing the creators of Sesame Street of attempting to brainwash young children. It quotes Mike Dann, one of the show’s founding executives, saying it “was not made for the sophisticated or the middle class”.  Early episodes featured the character Grover breaking bread with a hippie. Oscar, who lived in a rubbish bin, was supposed to address “conflicts arising from racial and ethnic diversity”.

Sesame Street tried to tackle divorce, tackled ‘peaceful conflict resolution’ in the aftermath of 9/11 and had [gay actor] Neil Patrick Harris on the show playing the subtly named ‘fairy shoeperson’,” notes Shapiro.  As to whether there may be a touch of McCarthy-esque paranoia about his belief that film-makers are planting the seed of socialism in the bosom of America, he adds: “It’s not paranoid to speak the truth. Hollywoodites admit openly to messaging their product, and to their scorn for [conservatives].”

Now, you may believe it’s just fine and dandy that Hollywood is promoting what you consider a worthy cause or sound worldview.  That’s fine.  Just show us a shred of intellectual honesty and stop denying that’s what they’re doing, mkay?

Why doesn’t anyone care about the unread Soviet archives?

Michail Gorbachev: the archives suggest a much darker figure.

Western academics have never shown much interest in studying Communism beyond the abstract and theoretical.  The fall of the Soviet Union opened up 70 years of classified documents and files for their inspection, which they have largely ignored.  Perhaps it’s because they’re afraid of what they might find, such as the infamous Venona Files declassified after the fall of the Soviet Union, and which essentially affirm Joe McCarthy’s so-called paranoia about KGB infiltration into American institutions and society.  Alger Hiss was a spy.  True, ol’ tail-gunner Joe may have gotten some names wrong, and he implicated a few innocent people, but he was onto something.  The documents prove it.  Unsurprisingly, therefore, Western academics largely ignore the treasure trove placed at their disposal in the post-Soviet era.  The crimes and atrocities of the 20th Century committed in the name of Communism and Atheism have largely been ignored by Academia and their pop culture missionaries in Hollywood and the Media.  I believe the reason for this is their fear that it would reflect negatively on the Western Left, and thereby strengthen the Right.  They don’t want the Right to use “Stalin” against them the way they use “Hitler” against the Right.  It’s not an accident, therefore, that Stalin is absent in an iconic sense from the Western psyche (even after 50 years of cold war), while the name “Hitler” has been mythologized as the embodiment of all that is depraved and evil in the world.  In this way they get to call you “Hitler” and “Nazi”, and you get to call them…Well, nothing.  Thus, Stalin, despite a body count far exceeding that of the Nazis, does not hold a candle to Der Fuehrer in the evil department.  The result is that even after nearly 50 years of Cold War with the Soviet Union, and despite most of their files thrown open for all to inspect for nearly 20 years now, academic interest in communism/marxism continues to be relegated to the theoretical, not the historical.

A Hidden History of Evil

In the world’s collective consciousness, the word “Nazi” is synonymous with evil. It is widely understood that the Nazis’ ideology—nationalism, anti-Semitism, the autarkic ethnic state, the Führer principle—led directly to the furnaces of Auschwitz. It is not nearly as well understood that Communism led just as inexorably, everywhere on the globe where it was applied, to starvation, torture, and slave-labor camps. Nor is it widely acknowledged that Communism was responsible for the deaths of some 150 million human beings during the twentieth century. The world remains inexplicably indifferent and uncurious about the deadliest ideology in history.

For evidence of this indifference, consider the unread Soviet archives. Pavel Stroilov, a Russian exile in London, has on his computer 50,000 unpublished, untranslated, top-secret Kremlin documents, mostly dating from the close of the Cold War. He stole them in 2003 and fled Russia. Within living memory, they would have been worth millions to the CIA; they surely tell a story about Communism and its collapse that the world needs to know. Yet he can’t get anyone to house them in a reputable library, publish them, or fund their translation. In fact, he can’t get anyone to take much interest in them at all.

Moslem/Leftist Convergence: Eric Holder Sues School that denied Moslem Teacher Mecca Pilgrimage

Mecca: infidels not welcome.

Attorney General Eric Holder has filed suit against an Illinois school district that refused to grant three weeks leave to a Moslem teacher to make the Haj pilgrimage to Mecca.  Holder claims it’s a violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act (you know, “racism”).  Stay tuned for CCHQ’s take on this latest multicultural atrocity from the Left.

Muslim teacher sues U.S. school for denying her three weeks leave to make Haj to Mecca

A school district is being sued for not allowing a Muslim teacher to take unpaid leave to make a pilgrimage to Mecca.  The Federal Government has brought the case on behalf of Safoorah Khan, claiming that it is a violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

It is the duty of every Muslim to join the million of pilgrims at the Hajj in Mecca at least once in their lifetime – and the middle school teacher had hoped to go in 2008.  Khan had started at Berkeley School, in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, in 2007 and asked for unpaid leave of three weeks to visit Saudi Arabia.

After the education district twice denied her request, Khan wrote to the board that ‘based on her religious beliefs, she could not justify delaying performing Hajj’.  She resigned shortly thereafter, according to the lawsuit filed in federal court.

Federal prosecutors say the leave was unrelated to her professional duties and was not set forth in the contract between the school district and the teachers’ union, thus violating her civil rights.  Berkeley School District compelled Khan to choose between her job and her religious beliefs, the lawsuit said.

The government asked the court to order the school district to adopt policies that reasonably accommodate its employees’ religious practices and beliefs, and to reinstate Khan with back pay and also pay her compensatory damages.

In November 2008, Khan filed a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which found reasonable cause that discrimination had occurred and forwarded the matter to the U.S. Justice Department.  The school district would not comment.

Two things that should jump out at you: Barack Obama will spare no effort in kissing up to the Moslem world, and Moslems in the West slowly worming their sharia law into our system.  Slowly but surely, the Left is mainstreaming the fringe.  That’s what they do.  That’s ALL they do.

Mind you, this is the same Eric Holder who refused to prosecute the New Black Panthers for a clear-cut case of voter intimidation back in ’08.  The accused are black, the complainants were white– enough said about that.  Yet he finds time in his busy schedule to apply the might of the federal government to sue a school district for this.  A Leftist, after all, has his priorities!

The next thing that should kick you in the gut is the irony of these Leftists– who spare no effort in subverting Christian religious holidays in our schools, all for the sake of “inclusion” and “separation of church and state”– suing on behalf of a Moslem teacher who wants to travel to Mecca for a religious pilgrimage, a “holy” city where virtually all of this teacher’s students are considered filthy kaffirs/infidels, and are therefore unwelcome.  How very “inclusive”, wouldn’t you say!  You could get your head chopped off for traveling to Mecca without express permission if you aren’t a Moslem.  Nice field trip that would make!

Finally, the length of time this woman is asking for– THREE WEEKS — would normally be considered immensely disruptive to any classroom which then has to settle for a substitute teacher to make due while she’s gone.  This apparently matters less than a damn to this “caring” school teacher, and even less to the Eric Holder.  Ain’t multiculturalism just grand!  Gotta love the Left and politically correct garbage they keep coming up with.

A multicultural X-MAS

A multicultural tree.

It seems I owe my readers an apology.  Lately, I’ve gone off on a tear about how multiculturalism actually means no culture at all, especially when it comes to wiping the public square clean of Christian culture during the holiday season.  You know, the whole “war on Christmas” bandwagon I’ve joined.  But I was hasty in that assessment and I’ve led you astray.  This I am man enough to admit, and I apologize.  Because it turns out multiculturalism REALLY DOES MEAN MANY CULTURES!

School: Christmas Tree Must Be Decorated With Jewish, Muslim Symbols

Ashland public schools can display a decorated pine tree if it is surrounded by symbols from other religious holidays, but they should not display a Christmas tree alone, in order to remain religiously neutral, Superintendent Juli Di Chiro told the School Board Monday.

District officials have implemented new holiday guidelines this year, after a controversy erupted at Bellview Elementary School last December over Principal Michelle Zundel’s removal of a holiday tree, because a family complained that it was a religious symbol. After dozens of parents and students protested the decision, Zundel replaced the tree, adding other winter decorations and allowing students to decorate the tree with symbols from their own religions.

“Something that was problematic was, we didn’t have any written guidelines for teachers and schools to use,” Di Chiro told the board.  A committee of elementary school parents, teachers and administrators helped create the district’s new guidelines over the past year, she said.

Middle Schooler Told to Remove American Flag from Bike

Want more proof modern Liberalism is a cultural disease?  Here the multiculturalists order a middle schooler, a child, to remove a small American flag from his bike because it might “stir racial tension.”  On Veteran’s Day.

DENAIR – 13-year-old Cody Alicea rides with an American flag on the back of his bike. He says he does this to be patriotic and to honor veterans, like his own grandfather, Robert. He’s had the flag on his bike for two months but Monday, was asked told to take it down.

A school official at Denair Middle School told Cody some students had been complaining about the flag and it was no longer allowed on school property.
[…]
Cody’s grandfather says the school was concerned about racial tensions or uprisings because of the flag. He feels if there was really a problem it should have been brought up two months ago, not during Veterans week.

Texas School Board Says no to Islam

The Texas school board gets this one wrong.  They shouldn’t curtail references to Islam in their curriculum, they should teach the truth about it– that Islam is an expansionist, imperialist, totalitarian political ideology cloaked in religion, and a threat to the Constitution.  That’s true of both the violent as well as the non-violent stealth jihad.  But this is a good start I guess.

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas State Board of Education adopted a resolution Friday that seeks to curtail references to Islam in Texas textbooks, as social conservative board members warned of what they describe as a creeping Middle Eastern influence in the nation’s publishing industry.

The board approved the one-page nonbinding resolution, which urges textbook publishers to limit what they print about Islam in world history books, by a 7-5 vote.  Critics say it’s another example of the ideological board trying to politicize public education in the Lone Star State.

“This is an expression of the board’s opinion, so it does not have an effect on any particular textbook,” said David Anderson, the general counsel for the Texas Education Agency, when asked by a board member what legal weight the resolution would carry.

“I believe that it’s happening in the current (social studies books) even though we can’t cover that in the resolution,” said board member Terri Leo, a Republican from Spring. The resolution sends a “clear message to publishers that it should not happen in the future.”

During public testimony, which included comments from activists as well as a handful of parents, Jonathan Saenz, a lobbyist for the conservative Liberty Institute, argued that the board was “doing the right thing … to prevent any type of religious discrimination or treat any religion in a way that’s incomplete.”

“The Board’s mission, and Texas’ future, is ill-served when the board chooses to use its limited meeting time to discuss and vote on discriminatory and politically motivated measures, such as this proposed resolution,” said Frank Knaack, of the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas.

The resolution concludes by warning publishers the “State Board of Education will look to reject future prejudicial social studies submissions that continue to offend Texas law with respect to treatment of the world’s major religious groups by significant inequalities of coverage space-wise and by demonizing or lionizing one or more of them over others.”

Undercover video: Boston public school kids pulled from mega-mosque field trip to participate in Muslim prayers, no intervention by school staff

This is outrageous and only confirms our worst fears about the Liberalism/stealth Jihad convergence.  Via the Jawa Report:

Americans for Peace and Tolerance released a shocking video today showing 6th graders from Wellesley, MA being pulled from a field trip to a Boston mega-mosque and being induced to participate in afternoon prayers alongside Muslim men without any intervention by school authorities present or notification to parents.

PROGRESSIVE: Massachusetts School District Allows Pledge of Allegiance

Progressive school district in Massachusetts relents and “allows” the pledge of allegiance to be recited again.  But just barely.

Students at Massachusetts high schools in Arlington can rejoice — they’ll be allowed to recite the Pledge of Allegiance this fall. Nearly two months after deadlocking on a proposal by senior Sean Harrington, the Arlington Public School Committee unanimously approved a new pledge policy on Tuesday night that allows principals at each school to determine how the pledge will be recited each day.

“Yes, the policy has been changed,” Arlington High School Principal Charles Skidmore told FoxNews.com in an email. “All principals in the district must ensure that the Pledge of Allegiance is said every school day in all classrooms.”

In June, Harrington appeared to have won his fight to bring the Pledge of Allegiance back into Arlington High School, but Skidmore, offered to allow students to recite the pledge before school begins and in the school’s foyer instead of inside the classrooms, as 17-year-old Harrington had hoped.

Skidmore now says he’s pleased with the new policy and especially the process that led up to it.

“As a result of the controversy, I heard from many people both across the country and in our community who wanted the Pledge restored to our school. That’s all I was ever looking for on this issue — widespread community buy-in so that students would feel that they wanted to say the Pledge, not just that they had to,” he said.

No student, teacher or administrator will be required to participate in a recitation, an Arlington High School official confirmed to FoxNews.com.

Harrington presented school officials with a petition signed by 700 people, along with letters of support from lawmakers including Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., and Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn. But the request to have the pledge recited failed when the committee’s vote ended in a 3-3 tie.

“I was really heartbroken,” Harrington told Fox News Radio in June. “It’s hard to think that something so traditional in American society was turned down.”  Harrington, who could not be immediately reached for comment on Wednesday, said months ago that he did not intend to stop pushing for the Pledge of Allegiance until it was allowed in his classrooms.

Howard Zinn Lied to Hide Communist Party Membership, FBI Files Reveal

Ah, the halls of Academia.  This should come as a shock to absolutely nobody.  From The Other McCain:

Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) document drop on the Left’s favorite anti-American historian:

On July 30, 2010, the FBI released one file with three sections totaling 423 pages on Howard Zinn, a best selling radical historian, teacher, playwright, and political activist.

Zinn was born in Brooklyn, New York and died at the age of 87 on January 27, 2010. As a young man he worked as a shipyard hand and served in the U. S. military as a bombardier during World War II. Returning from the war, he became involved in a number of left-wing political causes, some of them associated with the activities of the Communist Party of the United States (CPUSA).

In 1949, the FBI opened a domestic security investigation on Zinn (FBI File # 100-360217). The Bureau noted Zinn’s activities in what were called Communist Front Groups and received informant reports that Zinn was an active member of the CPUSA; Zinn denied ever being a member when he was questioned by agents in the 1950s. In the 1960s, the Bureau took another look at Zinn on account of his criticism of the FBI’s civil rights investigations. Further investigation was made when Zinn traveled to North Vietnam with Daniel Berrigan as an anti-war activist. The investigation ended in 1974, and no further investigation into Zinn or his activities was made by the FBI.

What is important to note here is that Zinn evidently joined the Kremlin-controlled CPUSA not during the “Popular Front” era of the 1930s — when many idealists were seduced — but after Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact in which Stalin cruelly and cynically sacrificed Poland to the Nazis. Zinn was a card-carrying Commie who advocated Marxism-Leninism after the Red Army’s ”Iron Curtain” occupation of Eastern Europe, the 1939 after the treachery of the Rosenbergs and Alger Hiss had been revealed, and even during the height of Stalin’s anti-Semitic “Doctors’ Plot” purge!

University of Illinois Instructor Fired Over Catholic Beliefs

Academia is the nerve center of the culture destroying Left.  Exhibit # 658: a university professor hired to teach the tenets of Catholicism is fired for teaching, well, the tenets of Catholicism.  Welcome to the New Tolerance:

URBANA, Ill. — The University of Illinois has fired an adjunct professor who taught courses on Catholicism after a student accused the instructor of engaging in hate speech by saying he agrees with the church’s teaching that homosexual sex is immoral.

The professor, Ken Howell of Champaign, said his firing violates his academic freedom. He also lost his job at an on-campus Catholic center.  Howell, who taught Introduction to Catholicism and Modern Catholic Thought, says he was fired at the end of the spring semester after sending an e-mail explaining some Catholic beliefs to his students preparing for an exam.

“Natural Moral Law says that Morality must be a response to REALITY,” he wrote in the e-mail. “In other words, sexual acts are only appropriate for people who are complementary, not the same.”  An unidentified student sent an e-mail to religion department head Robert McKim on May 13, calling Howell’s e-mail “hate speech.” The student claimed to be a friend of the offended student. The writer said in the e-mail that his friend wanted to remain anonymous.

“Teaching a student about the tenets of a religion is one thing,” the student wrote. “Declaring that homosexual acts violate the natural laws of man is another.”  Howell said he was teaching his students about the Catholic understanding of natural moral law.

“My responsibility on teaching a class on Catholicism is to teach what the Catholic Church teaches,” Howell said in an interview with The News-Gazette in Champaign. “I have always made it very, very clear to my students they are never required to believe what I’m teaching and they’ll never be judged on that.”

Howell also said he makes clear to his students that he’s Catholic and that he believes the church views that he teaches. McKim referred questions to university spokeswoman Robin Kaler, who said she couldn’t comment on Howell or his firing because it’s a personnel issue.

PROGRESSIVE: Elementary School Kidz to Get condoms

This isn’t The Onion, it’s Secular Progressivism.

When kindergarten through fifth grade students return to class at Veterans Memorial Elementary School in Provincetown, Mass., this fall, they’ll be able to ask the school nurse for condoms.

Thanks to a new, district-wide policy approved by the Provincetown School Board, condoms are now available to students in all schools, regardless of their age. Parents will not be informed if their kids request condoms.

Officials say that there’s no set age when sexual activity starts and students who ask for condoms will also receive counseling and information on abstinence.

Debate over the decision focused not on whether condoms should be available, but whether the policy was too restrictive for students, particularly those in high school. According to the Provincetown Banner, some committee members were worried that students will be forced to speak to a nurse, instead of having access in a more discreet way.

Not everyone is thrilled by the idea of condoms for elementary kids. Some Provincetown parents have expressed skepticism, and Kris Mineau, president of the conservative Massachusetts Family Institute, says the entire concept is absurd.

Rioting “Immigrant” youths Burn down their own school

Multicultural heaven spontaneously erupts as “immigrant” yutes celebrate their diversity.

Rioters in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, have burned down a school building and thrown stones at police in a second night of disturbances. The trouble began on Monday after a group of youths in a suburb with a mainly immigrant population were refused entry to a school dance.

Police say up to 100 youths went on the rampage, throwing stones and setting several cars alight.  Two people were detained but later released.  ‘Little Mogadishu’Police said the rioters threw stones at the fire engines, preventing them from reaching the school building before it burned to the ground. The youths also attacked a police station.

Rinkeby is home to a large number of first- and second-generation immigrants. Many of them are from Somalia, so the area is sometimes nicknamed Little Mogadishu.  Government ministers have visited Rinkeby to assess the situation.

Savages.

And from a Svenska report.

Rioting was reported in the Stockholm suburb of Rinkeby on Tuesday night as 50-60 youths pelted police with stones and set alight to a building.  “It is a war zone out here, it is raining stones”, said one witness who wished to remain anonymous to the Metro daily.

According to another witness a bus trying to enter the deprived area was forced to stop.  “Not a single window on the bus was intact,” an eye witness said.  Police were given an indication that something was afoot earlier in the evening as youths gathered on the streets equipping themselves with paving stones.

“They did all they could to attract our attention,” said Mats Brännlund at Stockholm police.  But police decided to react first when a building housing a mentor programme for young people in the area, burst into flames.

“We had to help the emergency services to get through,” Brännlund said.  In total around 20 police patrols with dogs were present in the area throughout the night as they tried to restore calm. Police vehicles were also subject to stone throwing.

“If you attack the police with stones and set alight to buildings then I would venture to suggest that it can be classified as rioting,” he said.  The fire services deployed 21 staff from three fire stations at the location, but none were reported to have been subjected to stone throwing.

A branch of the Nordea bank was attacked at around midnight with the local police station also the target of stone throwing youths. Two men were detained in connection with the police station attack.  According to media reports on Wednesday the cause of the outbreak of violence could have been the reaction to an argument at a party in the area earlier in the evening, but the reports have not been confirmed by police.

MSM Coverage of TX curriculum Changes Exposes their bias, agenda

The perceptions shapers are at it again.  Ann Althouse exposes the MSM frauds:

If you’re going to criticize the new social studies curriculum adopted by the Texas Board of Education, you’d better quote it.  Or at least link to the text. And if you choose to paraphrase and not even link, and I have to look up the text myself, and your paraphrase is not accurate, it is my job to embarrass you by pointing that out.

The Washington Post writes:

The Texas state school board gave final approval Friday to controversial social studies standards….

The new standards say that the McCarthyism of the 1950s was later vindicated — something most historians deny –…

The students are required to “describe how McCarthyism, the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), the arms race, and the space race increased Cold War tensions and how the later release of the Venona Papers confirmed suspicions of communist infiltration in U.S. government…” The word “vindicated” is inflammatory and unfair. What is the Washington Post saying historians deny? One can be informed of the reality of what the Venona Papers revealed about communist infiltration into the U.S. government and still understand and deplore the excesses of “McCarthyism.”

…draw an equivalency between Jefferson Davis’s and Abraham Lincoln’s inaugural addresses…

Students are required to “analyze the ideas contained in Jefferson Davis’ inaugural address and Abraham Lincoln’s ideas about liberty, equality, union, and government as contained in his first and second inaugural addresses and the Gettysburg Address.” The word “equivalency” is uncalled for. The requirement is to analyze, not to be indoctrinated that the ideas are the same.

… say that international institutions such as the United Nations imperil American sovereignty…

What I’m seeing is “explain the significance of the League of Nations and the United Nations” and “analyze the human and physical factors that influence the power to control territory, create conflict/war, and impact international political relations such as the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU), or the control of resources.” Where is the language that can be paraphrased “imperil American sovereignty”?

.… and include a long list of Confederate officials about whom students must learn.

Students are required to “explain the roles played by significant individuals and heroes during the Civil War, including Jefferson Davis, Ulysses S. Grant, Robert E. Lee, Abraham Lincoln, and congressional Medal of Honor recipients William Carney and Philip Bazaar.” Only Davis and Lee were Confederate officials! There is also this: “describe the role of individuals such as governors George Wallace, Orval Faubus, and Lester Maddox and groups, including the Congressional bloc of southern Democrats, that sought to maintain the status quo [in the Civil Rights Era].” That’s obviously not from the Civil War, but I can see why it’s annoying to Democrats.

They also removed references to capitalism and replaced them with the term “free-enterprise system.”

The document on economics does use the term “free enterprise system” throughout, but students are required to “understand that the terms free enterprise, free market, and capitalism are synonymous terms to describe the U.S. economic system,” so what is the problem?

Virtually everything cited in the article to make the curriculum seem controversial is misstated! Appalling!

The devastating rest, here.

Conservative Pushback in Texas

The conservative counterculture pushes back in this MSM piece, which predictably is dripping with Liberal bias.  Note, for example, that Republicans outnumber Democrats 10-5 on the Texas Board of Education, yet here Democrats are quoted over their Republican counterparts by a margin of  7-3.  That’s just a heads up.

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas State Board of Education adopted a social studies and history curriculum Friday that amends or waters down the teaching of religious freedoms, [because the Sec Progs are so worried about your “religious freedoms” (plenty of sarcasm there)] America’s relationship with the U.N. and hundreds of other items.  The new standards were adopted after a final showdown by two 9-5 votes along party lines, after Democrats’ and moderate Republicans’ efforts to delay a final vote failed.

In one of the most significant curriculum changes, the board dilutes the rationale for the separation of church and state in a high school government class, noting that the words were not in the Constitution and requiring students to compare and contrast the judicial language with the First Amendment’s wording. [In other words, teaching the FACTS.  The Left generally considers any kind of strict constructionism a “watering down” of their agenda.  The Constitution must “live and breath”; which makes the text– any text– virtually meaningless.  It’s how you end up with constitutional abominations like Roe v. Wade, or with biblical abominations like gay priests]

The standards, which one Democrat called a “travesty,” also will be used by textbook publishers who often develop materials for other states based on guidelines approved in Texas, although teachers in the Lone Star state have latitude in deciding how to teach the material.

The board attempted to make more than 200 amendments this week alone, reshaping draft standards that had been prepared over the last year and a half by expert groups of [Leftwing] teachers and professors.  As new amendments were being presented just moments before the vote, Democrats bristled that the changes had not been vetted.

“I think we’re doing an injustice to the children of this state by piecemealing together, cutting and pasting, coming up with new amendments as late as today,” said Mary Helen Berlanga, a Democrat. “What we have done today and what we did yesterday is something that a [Leftwing] classroom teacher would not even have accepted.”

During the monthslong revision process, conservatives strengthened requirements on teaching the Judeo-Christian influences of the nation’s Founding Fathers and required that the U.S. government be referred to as a “constitutional republic,” rather than “democratic.” Students will be required to study the decline in the value of the U.S. dollar, including the abandonment of the gold standard.

They also rejected language to modernize the classification of historic periods to B.C.E. and C.E. from the traditional B.C. and A.D., and agreed to replace Thomas Jefferson as an example of an influential political philosopher in a world history class. [He was returned to AMERICAN history class, where he belongs, here]They also required students to evaluate efforts by global organizations such as the United Nations to undermine U.S. sovereignty.

Former board chairman Don McLeroy, one of the board’s most outspoken conservatives said the Texas history curriculum has been unfairly skewed to the left after years of Democrats controlling the board and he just wants to bring it back into balance.

“I’m proud to have my name on this document,” Republican board member Barbara Cargill said shortly before the vote.  Another Republican board member, David Bradley, said the curriculum revision process has always been political — but this time, the ruling faction had changed since the last time social studies standards were adopted.

“We took our licks, we got outvoted,” he said referring to the debate from 10 years earlier. “Now it’s 10-5 in the other direction … we’re an elected body, this is a political process. Outside that, go find yourself a benevolent dictator.”

GOP board member Geraldine Miller was absent during the votes.  [Leftwing] Educators have blasted the curriculum proposals for politicizing education. Teachers also have said the document is too long and will force students to memorize lists of names rather than thinking critically.  The curriculum dispute contributed to McLeroy’s defeat in the March state Republican primary.

Education Secretary Arne Duncan said school officials “should keep politics out” of curriculum debates [Where were you about 40 years ago when the politicization of our public schools began in earnest?  Too late for that now, I’m afraid].  “We do a disservice to children when we shield them from the truth, just because some people think it is painful or doesn’t fit with their particular views,” Duncan said in a statement. “Parents should be very wary of politicians designing curriculum.”

After the vote, the American Civil Liberties Union [hehe!  Like clockwork] of Texas urged the state Legislature to place more control over the board.  “At the end of three long days, the State Board of Education has amended, re-amended and approved curriculum standards that are more ideological than ever, despite pleas to not politicize what is taught to Texas school children,” said the state ACLU’s executive director, Terri Burke.

“They have ignored [Leftwing] historians and teachers, allowing ideological activists to push the culture war further into our classrooms,” said Rep. Mike Villareal, a San Antonio Democrat. “They fail to understand that we don’t want liberal textbooks or conservative textbooks. We want excellent textbooks, written by [Leftwing] historians instead of activists.”

[…]

Texas’ new curriculum isn’t an effort by the “American Taliban” to create some christian theocracy– unless of course you believe America was a theocracy before the 60s counter culture wrecked the place in their zeal to destroy everything and anything even remotely connected to “the Man.”  If so, then yeah, we’re creating a “theocracy.”  Call it whatever you want, you filthy hippies.  The conversation is over.  We aren’t here to talk, we’re here to clean your clocks.

Note the insinuation in the first paragraph of the article that the new curriculum “waters down the teaching of religious freedoms” just because students would be asked to think critically about Jefferson’s “separation of church and state” vs the Constitution’s Establishment Clause.  As if that’s what the Left’s concern is– our religious freedoms.  The fact is, “religious” freedoms is the last thing on their minds.  They are a militantly secular cultural Establishment, and what they are concerned about is that Texas students might start to think critically, just as any Establishments is. Well, I have bad news for the militant secularists, Thomas Jefferson was only one of many voices who shaped our defining document. And his language didn’t make the final cut. It’s not in the Constitution.

Nor are they terribly interested in Jefferson himself. (When have you heard a Liberal invoke Jefferson’s “yeoman farmer”? You won’t).  Their hysterics about him being pulled from the Texas curriculum are not only a lie (because he wasn’t pulled), but also entirely self-serving.  The only thing they’re worried about is that phrase—separation of church and state—which isn’t even in the Constitution, but in a personal letter to friend.  That’s what this is all about.  The Sec Progs hang their entire anti-christian agenda on that extra-constitutional phrase.  That’s what they’re running around with their hair on fire about—kids being asked to compare and contrast that phrase with the actual text of the Establishment clause.  You see, the actual text of the Constitution doesn’t say what they wished it said.  So they raise the extra-constitutional writings of Jefferson to equal status with the Constitution (a de facto amendment to the Constitution without having to bother with all the messy de jure complications) and then push it to secularist limits never envisioned by the Founding Fathers.  Jefferson’s extra-constitutional “separation of church and state” is how the Left justifies hounding Christianity into the closet—and disgustingly, they do it in the name of “religious freedoms”.  So the next time the ACLU drags you into court, remember to thank them for protecting your “religious freedoms.”

These changes to the Texas school curriculum are a small, but long overdue pushback against the cultural marxism of the New Left which for decades has run rampant and unchecked in our culture, seeking not a separation of church and state, but a complete elimination of our judeo-christian heritage from the public sphere, and indeed, even from the historical record (You may have heard from your teachers and professors that the Founding Fathers were “deists”, but careful, teaching students the Founding Fathers were christians could violate “separation of church and state”).  That’s because militant secularism has taken the First Amendment’s constitutional limit on the “establishment” of a state religion, and warped it into a government imperative to stamp out all natural and organic expression of religion, faith, and tradition wherever they can be found (especially if it’s christian), whether it be on “government property”, or at the shopping mall, or the movie theater– all in the name of “separation of church and state”, or “protecting your religious freedoms” (so Orwellian, isn’t it?), and last but not least– diversity!  Always diversity!  And if their Orwellian vision of the future guarantees “religious freedoms”, it only does so if that religion stays locked away in the closet.  As if Christianity were the “new gay” in the very country founded and built by Christians.

This is the bleak vision of an America under the yoke of Secular Progressivism–  a once great judeo-christian culture rendered a sterile, soulless, Hollywood-driven, secularized husk where nobody is “offended” because nobody dares open their mouth lest you be dragged off to court for violating the Left’s “living, breathing” Constitution.  Unless of course the object is to offend christians– then by all means, open your mouth and offend away.

Texas has also watched for decades as American ideal of Epluribus Unum— from the many ONE– was replaced by the Left’s multicultural agenda to keep Americans divided along racial and ethnic lines, and to keep as many of them out of the Mainstream as possible– because once someone joins the Mainstream, the Left loses another “victim” to whom they can offer Salvation.  And what exactly do we mean by “mainstream”, you ask?  Is this rightwing code for fascism, perhaps?  “Mainstream” means simply the “melting pot,” and assimilation.  Multiculturalism is therefore the antithesis of assimilation.  For about three decades now we have witnessed the evolution of the Left’s multicultural agenda, where the traditional American “melting pot” was scrapped in favor of their multicultural “salad bowl” experiment– a cultural salad bowl where your identity as an individual is subsumed into a tribal collective based on race and ethnicity, not an American ethic based on values, ideas, or a philosophy; and thereby dividing racial/ethnic minorities from their fellow Americans in “the mainstream” melting pot because their skin color and cultural ethnicity precludes them from ever being fully American.  Which is ironic, because this type of segregation is obstensibly what MLK and the civil rights movement were fighting to do away with.  Now the Left fights for the multiculti right to be separate and apart. You know, separate but equal.

This is the Left’s infamous “fractured coalition” of disparate and competing racial/ethnic/special interest factions.  It is a far cry from the Enlightenment ideal of men and women who define themselves by their values, beliefs, and ideas, with loyalty to their nation state, not their tribe.  The Left’s fractured coalition is merely the fruits of this primitivism  based on skin color and tribe, and the narrow interests these engender.  This dysfunctional, multiculti coalition is fractured precisely because their interests are tribal and narrow, not genuinely civic-minded and broad.  This makes them nearly impossible to govern, as any successful Democratic president must govern from the center, i.e., the mainstream.  The Left’s multiculti tribalism is the polar opposite of JFK’s call to national selflessness (“…what you can do for your country.”) because the narrow interests of the tribe always trumps nation.  Cultural diversity, you see, is not strength– no matter how loudly the multicultis shout it from the rooftops.  It is weakness.  The Founding Fathers, recall, warned us that united we stand, divided we fall.  So who are you going to believe?  The Founding Fathers, or the multiculti gramciists of the Left?

These cultural marxists aren’t the Liberals of our youth in whom we naively placed our trust.  I doubt MLK or JFK would even recognize them.  Heck, the most staunch Republican I know has more in common with JFK than these Secular Prog body-snatchers do, these shape-shifting golem who invoke Jefferson’s “separation of church and state” in one breath, and vilify him as a white, male, slave-owning rapist in the next, depending on who happens to be in the room listening to them.  The same ideological shape-shifters who mock simple patriotism and love of country behind closed doors, and denounce you for questioning their patriotism when in public.  Well, we are finally onto them, and nothing illustrates this awakening better than what’s going on today in Arizona— and now here in Texas as well.  And this is just the beginning.  In Texas and Arizona, American conservatism begins it’s long march through our institutions to wrest them back from the cultural marxists of the Left who stole them from us.

TX School Board: Thomas Jefferson Stays

Mark Twain said a lie travels half way around the world before the truth gets its pants on.  The Texas Board of Education responds to the Lib Media’s false accusation that Thomas Jefferson has been struck from the Texas curriculum.  The original misinformation can be traced to militant atheist advocacy group Texas Freedom Network, which accused the Board of erasing Jefferson to further a larger theocratic agenda, even as they fight tooth and nail to impose their own atheistic Leftwing ideology on the curriculum.  In Texas?  Good luck with that.  They were utterly crushed and defeated, so slander and lies was all that was left to them.  But it’s an accusation the Lib media naturally ran with before fact-checking it with the Texas school board itself.  This warped narrative spread like a wildfire across the country overnight thanks to the usual suspects, and is now generally accepted as true.

Thomas Jefferson remains in social studies curriculum

After hours of public testimony and more than 100 amendments offered to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for social studies, the State Board of Education last week gave preliminary approval to the curriculum standards that will be used in Texas public schools.

One amendment in particular has garnered a lot of attention, after some media outlets erroneously reported the State Board of Education was dropping Thomas Jefferson from the curriculum framework.

“The only individual mentioned more times in the curriculum standards than Thomas Jefferson is George Washington,” said Gail Lowe, chairwoman of the 15-member board. “We expect students at the elementary level, in middle school and in high school to study the Founding Fathers and to be well versed in their contributions to our country. That includes Thomas Jefferson and his legacy,” she said.

In fifth grade, designed as an introductory survey course of the United States from 1565 to the present, students are expected to “identify the Founding Fathers and Patriot heroes, including John Adams, Samuel Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Nathan Hale, Thomas Jefferson, the Sons of Liberty, and George Washington, and their motivations and contributions during the revolutionary period.”

In the eighth grade, in which the history of the United States from the early colonial period through Reconstruction is presented, the TEKS framework requires students to “explain the roles played by significant individuals during the American Revolution, including Abigail Adams, John Adams, Wentworth Cheswell, Samuel Adams, Mercy Otis Warren, James Armistead, Benjamin Franklin, Bernardo de Galvez, Crispus Attucks, King George III, Haym Salomon, Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson, the Marquis de Lafayette, Thomas Paine and George Washington.”

The U.S. Government course required for high school graduation states that students will “identify the contributions of the political philosophies of the Founding Fathers, including John Adams, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, John Jay, James Madison, George Mason, Roger Sherman and James Wilson on the development of the U.S. government.”

In addition, students must “identify significant individuals in the field of government and politics, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Marshall, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan.”

Although Jefferson had been listed in a World History standard, the board removed his name from a list of European Enlightenment philosophers that included John Locke, Thomas Hobbes, Voltaire, Charles de Montesquieu and Jean Jacques Rousseau.

“This was inappropriate placement of Jefferson’s name,” said Lowe of the World History proposal. “Jefferson was not himself an Enlightenment philosopher, although he was heavily influenced by the writings of these individuals. But to say the State Board of Education has removed him from the TEKS is inaccurate and irresponsible,” said Lowe.

Lowe continued, “Jefferson not only penned the words of the Declaration of Independence, served as the third president of the United States and was father of the University of Virginia, but his promotion of the ideals of a limited federal government and states’ rights also permeated our nation for generations. No study of American history would be complete without his inclusion,” she said.

Hundreds of Latino/Mexican Students Leave School & March Demanding Respect

Latino/Mexican yutes march to demand "respect."

Respect me!  lol  Here is where Liberal racial/identity politics leads to– division and strife.

About 200 Hispanic teens are marching in Morgan Hill yelling “We want respect!” and “Si se puede!” in reaction to a controversy ignited when the Live Oak High School principal effectively sent four students home for wearing T-shirts with American flags on them during Cinco de Mayo.

Mexican-American students felt the students were being disrespectful on the only day they celebrate their heritage while students sporting red, white and blue said it violated their First Amendment rights.

Six police cars and a Morgan Hill motorcycle officer have been cruising alongside the large group as it marches.

The group – mostly high school students – walked out of school this morning after the story of four students who were sent home because they wore American flag T-shirts went viral on TV and online. Many wear red, white and green and two large Mexico flags can be seen at the front of the line.

The students say they want people to know they’re proud of their heritage and they believe wearing red, white and blue on Cinco de Mayo is disrespectful.

[…]

Ain’t multiculturalism just grand!  Time to reinstitute the pledge of allegiance in California.

Question:  Where are their parents?  Half of these yutes will drop out of that high school before they graduate.  That is a statistical FACT.  They will then go on the dole, into crime, or otherwise end up a burden on the taxpayer.  But, boy they sure are well-schooled and highly educated in Leftwing identity politics.   Respect them!

You don’t demand respect, you EARN it, and they are LOSING it fast!  I’m pretty sure demanding other kids be suspended for having the gall to wear American colors in their own country isn’t helping either.  Personally, I’ll respect their traditions/history/culture when they move their loyalties north of the border.  Not before that.
